Peskov: Russia only wants Twitter, YouTube, TikTok to stick to law
MOSCOW, Jun 8 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has only demanded that Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok respect laws, and the Kremlin has not plotted any strategies, the president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told PRIME on Tuesday.
The Wall Street Journal earlier reported that ahead of a parliamentary vote later in 2021, “the Kremlin has been fine-tuning its strategy to pressure platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok to remove antigovernment content, classifying a growing number of posts as illegal and issuing a flurry of takedown requests.”
Peskov said, “No, the communications service wants these platforms to respect the Russian laws. Nothing more.”
